A Unique Behind-the-Scenes Look at How Your Power is Made
Thank you for your interest in RVEC’s Energy Trail Tour—a one-of-a-kind opportunity to see how electricity is generated and delivered to your home. This exclusive three-day experience gives our members a front-row seat to the energy journey, from raw resources to reliable power.
The winners of the tour will travel comfortably with fellow cooperative members to North Dakota’s Energy Loop. You’ll witness energy production in action—from hydroelectric power and wind farms to coal-fired generation—and see how mined lands are carefully restored into farmland and native prairies.
Along the way, you'll:
Thanks to the support of our power provider, Corn Belt Power Cooperative, this tour is offered at no cost to the selected members.
Raccoon Valley Electric Cooperative and Corn Belt Power Cooperative invite you to join us for one of two Energy Trail Tours being offered this summer.
This 3-day adventure will allow you to experience, first-hand, how your power providers convert energy from water, wind, and coal into electricity. View coal being mined and see how those mines are then returned to productive farm and native grasslands. Enjoy interactive walking tours through a hydroelectric and coal-fired energy generation facility and other stops along the way. Meet other cooperative member-owners while traveling together across the Dakotas on board a motor-coach bound for North Dakota’s Energy Loop.
$100 per couple covers your lodging, meals, and entry fees. The remainder of your tour costs are covered by Raccoon Valley Electric Cooperative. Two lucky couples from Raccoon Valley Electric will be selected at random from those who sign up.
Please call us at (712) 659-3649 or email info@rvec.coop. We’re happy to help.
We look forward to hitting the road with another group of RVEC members in 2026!
