Outage Center

Your reliable power is our priority. While we work hard to minimize outages, severe weather and unexpected events can disrupt service.

This Outage Center is your central hub for information when the lights go out. Here, you can quickly report an outage, access our outage map, get the latest updates on restoration efforts, and review essential safety information to keep your family safe until power is restored.

Outage Restoration

When the power goes out, our top priority is safely restoring service to the greatest number of members in the shortest amount of time. To achieve this, we follow a proven, systematic four-step restoration plan.

How We Restore Power

Our crews work from the transmission source down to your individual home service. Please be aware that while your individual service may be damaged, we cannot address it until the main lines feeding your area are fixed.

  1. Substations (The Power Source): We begin by repairing major transmission lines and substations. Fixing a single issue here can often restore power to hundreds of members simultaneously.

  2. Main Distribution Lines (Major Feeders): Next, crews focus on main lines running out from the substations, often serving towns or large rural areas.

  3. Tap Lines (Neighborhoods/Branches): We then move to smaller branch lines, known as "tap lines," which feed power to groups of homes and businesses down specific roads.

  4. Individual Services: Finally, we address individual service issues, such as a damaged weatherhead or service wire connecting a single home to the main line. This step often takes the longest because crews must travel house-to-house to make repairs.
